Can Man Dan Returns to Ensure That Every Child Has a Hot Meal to Eat and Gift to Open on Christmas Day
Can Man Dan’s famous winter campout series returns to the cold in order to support Edmonton’s Food Bank and Santas Anonymous.
Edmonton, AB – Edmonton’s Daniel Johnstone, better known as Can Man Dan, is once again set to camp out in freezing cold winter temperatures to raise food, toys, and monetary donations for two local charities close to his heart. Can Man Dan will be spending a total of eight days and seven nights camping out in the December cold to raise support for both Edmonton’s Food Bank and Santas Anonymous.
Johnstone will be hosting two separate winter campouts around Edmonton starting December 1st. Can Man Dan will be accepting donations 24 hours a day during his campaign and hopes to “ensure that every child has a hot meal on their plates and a gift to open up on Christmas Day.” Johnstone is notorious for camping out in freezing cold temperatures to help families and children in need, with his first ever winter campout taking place in 2011.
Johnstone will be camping out at Toys “R” Us (3940 Gateway Blvd NW) from December 1st (10 AM) - December 3rd (6 PM) hoping to raise $50,000 in new toys for Santas Anonymous. Then, Johnstone will return to the cold from December 20th (10 AM) - December 24th (6 PM) in hopes of raising 50,000 pounds of food for Edmonton’s Food Bank.
“We grew up using these services,” explained Johnstone. “Growing up in a single-parent, low-income household was really tough, especially when the Holidays hit. My Mom, God bless her, did everything she could to provide for us, but it often wasn’t enough. If it wasn’t for the the kind support of Edmonton’s Food Bank and Santas Anonymous, I don’t know if we would have the special Christmas memories that we do now. They really helped us. Now, it’s my turn to help some other kid out there form their own special memory.”
